What to expect
About this event
Here is a date for anyone who has always dreamed of singing opera but never dared: on Wednesday 30 December 2026, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, in the salle Québec of the Cité internationale de la langue française, 1 place Aristide Briand in Villers-Cotterêts.
Led by Renaud Boutin, the workshop prepares you to take part in The Magic Flute (La Flûte enchantée), in a brand new French version. The idea is to become part of this philosophical musical tale by singing certain passages from the auditorium during the performance on 30 December. The rehearsal welcomes everyone aged 7 to 107, and no previous experience or minimum singing level is required. Before the show, tutorials will be made available on the Cité's website.
The workshop lasts 2 hours and is open from age 7. The adult price is 9 euros, including entry to the permanent exhibition, and it is free for under-18s. Tickets are booked on the Cité's website. The tourist office mentions a lift and toilets.
As the Cité puts it, everyone can sing. I will only add one tip: drink a little water before you start.
