Les Écritures du voyage in Villers-Cotterêts

I will see you on Saturday 5 December 2026 at 15:30 in the Salle Chêne of the Cité internationale de la langue française, 1 place Aristide Briand in Villers-Cotterêts. For an hour and a half, three guests ask who travel writers are, why people go far away to write, and where the age-old tradition of travel journals comes from.

Around the table: the author Adrien Blouët, born in 1992, a writer and manga translator, who published « Comment ne pas devenir écrivain voyageur » in 2024; the ethnologist Pascal Dibie, born in 1949, a writer and lecturer-researcher at Université Paris-VII, winner of the Académie française's Henri Dumarest sociology prize in 1987 and president of the Prix Bouvier at the Étonnants Voyageurs festival in Saint-Malo; and Sylvie Requemora-Gros, senior lecturer in French literature of the classical centuries at Aix-Marseille University.

They discuss what exploration narratives do to language, and how literature about faraway places expresses the way we grasp the world and other people. The talk is followed by a book signing. Admission is free, with booking, and open to all audiences.
