What to expect
About this event
Let me take you to Laon, to the departmental archives of the Aisne, for an exhibition devoted to the photographic collection of the Inventaire général du patrimoine des Hauts-de-France, the regional heritage inventory. The collection was created in 1979 and is still growing today.
The exhibition explores the variety of the region's heritage, photographed at different periods: religious, industrial and public buildings, urban, rural and seaside heritage, from Gothic to contemporary architecture. It invites you to see Inventory photography as a scientific tool for documentation and analysis, and also as a way of passing on and shaping our collective memory. Personally, I love the idea that a plain photo of a façade can become an archive.
Admission is free, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. One thing to check: the departmental listing gives dates up to 6 November 2026, while the Archives website announces the exhibition until 18 December 2026. I would call +33 3 23 24 61 47 before coming. The Archives give their address as Parc Foch, avenue du Maréchal Foch, Laon.
This event has ended and is now archived. The listing remains available as a record of the event.
