About this event
I am taking you to the Salle de la Station of the Suzanne-Martinet media library, rue Marcelin Berthelot in Laon, for Noir de lettre, an exhibition by the artist 2flui.
Coming from graffiti, where it all started with tags and writing his name in the urban space, 2flui developed an instinctive relationship with letters and marks early on. Discovering calligraphy extended that relationship.
His work is based on Latin calligraphy, which he transforms through movement. He invents, fragments, stretches or reinvents the letter until it becomes abstract, turning it into rhythm, tension and material. For this exhibition he also draws on Arabic and Asian calligraphic traditions, without copying their codes, keeping their rhythms, balance and the energy of the gesture.
