What to expect
About this event
I will see you on Friday 27 November 2026, from 18:00 to 19:30, at 28 rue Antoine Lécuyer in Saint-Quentin, for a talk on the fine history of pastel. It is given by Annette Poulet and Pomme Legrand, members of the friends' association of the Antoine Lécuyer museum.
From the 16th century to the present day, pastel has been the favourite tool of many artists, who used it in very different ways. Some used it for preparatory studies for finished works: Jacopo Bassano in the 16th century, Quentin de La Tour, Siméon Chardin and Jean-Étienne Liotard in the 18th, Amédée Ozenfant in the 20th. Others worked in series around a theme, such as Degas and Monet in the 19th century. Others again made it a field of constant exploration, from Sam Szafran to Catherine Hekking, by way of François Barbâtre, Olivier O. Olivier, Pierre Skira, Jean Le Gac, Irving Petlin and Anne Gorouben.
The talk is free, with no booking. For information, the number given is 03 23 06 93 98.
