Visite guidée à Berry-au-Bac : "La cote 108 et son cratère de mine"

I will meet you on Saturday 7 November 2026 at 14:00 at the Caverne du Dragon, the Chemin des Dames visitor centre in Oulches-la-Vallée-Foulon. From there, everyone drives in their own vehicle to Cote 108 at Berry-au-Bac, for a tour led by a qualified guide in partnership with the association Correspondance Cote 108.

The site is one of the largest mine craters preserved in France. It lies where the Marne meets the Aisne, at the eastern end of the Chemin des Dames ridge, and is inseparable from the mine warfare of the First World War. The hill takes its name from its highest point, 108 metres, which overlooks the Aisne, its lateral canal, the Aisne-Marne canal and the departmental road. Sitting exactly on the front line between French and German troops, the position saw deadly fighting from September 1914. It has been a listed historic monument since 1937.
