SUMMARY:Droit de vote et élections : cycle à Vermand
DESCRIPTION:Until 31 December 2026, the Vermand media library is showing the exhibition « Droit de vote et élections, de 1789 à nos jours », together with a series of talks and film debates run with the Musée du Vermandois, with free admission to the talks unless stated otherwise.\nI am inviting you to Vermand, where the Musée du Vermandois and the Vermand media library are devoting the end of 2026 to the right to vote. The exhibition « Droit de vote et élections, de 1789 à nos jours » is on show at the media library from 1 October to 31 December 2026.\n\nAlongside it, a series of talks and meetings runs from October to December. Historians, researchers and specialists shed light on the history of suffrage, electoral practices and political movements, in France and in Germany alike.\n\nThe announced topics cover a lot of ground: elections as seen in press cartoons, the first elections by universal suffrage in 1848, women's political voice, the peaceful revolution of 1989, the winning of women's right to vote, the sociology of voting and Germany in 1932. Film debates punctuate the programme too, notably around Dennis Gansel's The Wave and the German film Die Hälfte der Welt gehört uns, about women's fight for the vote.\n\nAll the talks are free unless stated otherwise, as with the film debate at the CGR cinema. The listing gives neither the exhibition opening hours nor the detailed dates of the next talks, so I suggest you check with the media library before you go.\nVenue: Vermand media library (exhibition), film debate at the CGR cinema. Instead, they will tell you how that ballot paper ended up in your hand, from 1789 to the present day, by way of 1848 and the fight for women's suffrage. I find it a very pleasant way to brush up on history without sitting an exam.\nVoting rights since 1789: exhibition and talks in Vermand\nCycle autour du droit de vote in Vermand, Aisne: an exhibition at the media library until 31 December 2026, plus talks and film debates, talks free of charge.\nHow long is the exhibition on the right to vote on in Vermand?\nIt is on show at the Vermand media library from 1 October to 31 December 2026.\nDo the talks cost anything?\nAll the talks are free unless stated otherwise, as with the film debate at the CGR cinema.\nWhich films are shown in the film debates?\nThe programme mentions Dennis Gansel's The Wave and the German film Die Hälfte der Welt gehört uns.\nWho is organising the series?\nThe Musée du Vermandois, in partnership with the Vermand media library.
