SUMMARY:Journée commémorative du Cessez le Feu
DESCRIPTION:The Villa Pasques in La Capelle, 13 rue de l’Armistice, opens its doors free of charge on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026 from 10:00 to 17:00 for the Ceasefire commemoration.\nI am taking you to La Capelle, in the Thiérache area, where the Villa Pasques opens its doors to the public on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00, to commemorate the Ceasefire.\n\nThis large, handsome house, built in 1900 of brick with white stone dressings, is named after its owner, Georges Pasques. According to the town, it was here that the German plenipotentiaries were received on 7 November 1918 by Commandant de Bourbon-Busset, on the road to the Armistice; it was also at La Capelle that bugler Corporal Pierre Sellier was ordered to sound the ceasefire.\n\nSince 2008, the town and the Aisne departmental council have turned the ground floor into a place of remembrance. An educational display fills two restored rooms, with panels on 7 November 1918, the German occupation of La Capelle and the story of the Pierre d’Haudroy memorial. For anyone with a passion for history and heritage it is a rare chance, as visits normally have to be arranged through the town hall first.\n\nAdmission is free. Information from La Capelle town hall on 03 23 97 52 00.\nDates: Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, 10:00 to 17:00. Venue: Villa Pasques, 13 rue de l’Armistice, La Capelle. Price: free.
